Meet Our Undergraduate Admissions Staff
Darlene Dilley, Director of AdmissionsB.A., University of Utah
Alexandra Steed, Transfer Admissions Counselor
Ashley is from Taylorsville, Utah and graduated from Westminster’s project-based Bachelor’s of Business Administration program in 2012. Her favorite part about being an admissions counselor is working with students to be able to attend a great private college where she knows they will succeed. Ashley’s favorite spot on campus is the upstairs study area in Giovale Library with the big windows and comfortable chairs. She enjoys reading, hiking, taking photos, road tripping and chasing around her two sons. Her favorite places to eat in Salt Lake are My Thai and Tokai Sushi.
Carolyn Lyons, Freshman Admissions Counselor
Carolyn is originally from Logan, Utah, but mostly recently spent almost two years living in Seoul, South Korea teaching English. She says working in admissions at Westminster is great because of the students she has the privilege to work with. Carolyn loves hearing their future dreams and aspirations, and working to help to achieve them. Her favorite place on campus is the tables next to the library, where she can sit and enjoy reading a free copy of The New York Times. There are so many delicious places in to eat in Salt Lake, she could never choose just one! Right now she loves Mazza, Ruby Snap Cookies and Ichiban Sushi. In her free time she loves to take walks and explore the city. She enjoys playing tennis, cooking for friends and going to see movies.
Chris Dorich, Assistant Director of Admissions
Chris began his career in Utah working for Sperry-Univac, which is now L-3 Communications CS-West. He has also been the varsity soccer coach at Westminster College for 26 years. His favorite part about working with the admissions team is bringing in new students to earn a quality education at Westminster College. In his spare time, Chris enjoys coaching soccer and continuing his education because you are never too old to learn. His favorite spot on campus is the Dumke soccer field and his favorite local restaurant is Flemings Steak House.
David Robles, Freshman Admissions Counselor
David is from Salt Lake City, Utah. He is a Weber State University alumni and plans on earning a graduate degree from Westminster College. He is passionate about working as an Admissions Counselor because he loves to inspire students in any way possible. One of the greatest things he likes about working with students is the personal relationships. He believes that every student has the power to succeed as long as they have a support system. On his spare time, he likes to whitewater kayak, mountain bike, hike, camp, trail run, and do anything outdoors. He also loves soccer, which is why he attends every Real Salt Lake match during the season. His favorite place on campus is the HWAC (gym) and restaurant is Tres Hombres Mexican Grill & Cantina
Kelly Jerome, Freshman Admissions Counselor
Kelly was born and graduated High School in Utah, but between that time had the opportunity to move to a few different states including California, Texas, and Arizona. She graduated from Northern Arizona University with a degree in Marketing, and returned to Salt Lake City to be closer to her family and take advantage of the mountains. A strong believer in higher education, Kelly loves working in admissions because it is something she is passionate about. She shares as much excitement about starting college as her students do, and enjoys helping them through the admissions process. Her favorite place on campus is the bridge overlooking Emigration Creek because it is beautiful no matter the time of year. In her spare time, Kelly likes to ski at Solitude and Park City, attend live music shows at Urban Lounge, and travel. Her favorite restaurants in town, although they change often, areSapa Sushi and Tony Caputo’s Deli.
Kristie Ross, Campus Visit & Event Coordinator
Kristie is born and raised in Upstate NY. She graduated from Canisius College in Buffalo, NY where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and completed a 3-1 Fashion Merchandising Management Associate’s Degree at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. She earned her Master’s Degree in Sport Administration from Canisius College as well. Kristie has only been in Utah (Salt Lake City) for a year and a half, but has enjoyed the various outdoor activities Utah has to offer. Her favorite part about being on the Admissions team is being able to coordinate events both on and off campus for prospective students, and helping high school students envision themselves as future college students here. She enjoys working out, traveling and spending time with friends & family. Her favorite restaurants in Salt Lake are Bombara and Takashi.
Leanna Kowallis, Associate Director of Admissions
Leanna grew up in Provo, UT and decided to stay close to home for college. She earned her Bachelors degree in English at Brigham Young University. Shortly after, she traveled to Washington, D.C. where she earned her Master of Arts in International Affairs from George Washington University. Her favorite part of working for the admissions office is meeting so many great students on a daily basis. Her favorite spot on campus is the new Commons Area. In her spare time, Leanna enjoys cooking, playing tennis and volleyball, running, rock climbing, reading and traveling the globe.
Manny Villalobos, Assistant Director of Admissions
Born and raised in Utah, Manny graduated from Westminster in 2002. As an aviation admission counselor, he lives to fly. He enjoys taking prospective students out flying—seeing the look on their face, and all their fears, hopes and dreams coming out. The most rewarding part of his job is giving students a skill they’ll take with them forever. His favorite campus location is the Aviation Simulation & Testing Center. Aside from flying, Manny enjoys fishing, camping and playing basketball. The mountains are his favorite land location, because it’s an escape from the everyday norm. While in the air, he says it’s hard to pinpoint a favorite spot because it’s all so beautiful from above. As a self-proclaimed health nut, his favorite restaurants are Kneaders and Whole Foods. He also loves taking wheat grass shots.
Mason Holmes, Transfer Admissions Counselor
Mason is a Salt Lake City transplant from Wichita, Kansas. He graduated from Wichita State University with a Bachelors Degree of Business in Marketing and Management, and is currently in the MBA program at Westminster College. He enjoys sharing in the excitement of students making important decisions about college. Mason is passionate about fitness, and teaches Turbo Kick classes at HWAC on campus. Mason enjoys traveling, outdoor activities and attending live concerts, musicals and plays. He loves exploring the eclectic variety of local restaurants in Salt Lake City, but also frequents the Chipotle just a few blocks from campus in the Sugarhouse District often.
Mary Rendon, Transfer Admissions Counselor
Mary is originally from Burbank, California. She moved to Utah her sophomore year of high school and fell in love with Salt Lake City. She graduated from Westminster College with a degree in Political Science in 2013. Her favorite part about working with students is getting to help them through the sometimes overwhelming application process that she had to go through as an undergraduate. Her favorite place on campus is the Center for Civic Engagement in the Bassis Center for Student Learning. She enjoys reading, traveling, hiking, baking, and spending time with her husband and her dog. Her favorite places to eat in Salt Lake City are Tsunami and Oasis Café.
Trevor Beal, Freshman Admissions Counselor
Trevor is originally from Katy, Texas and graduated from Westminster with a B.S. in Psychology and was also a member of the college’s Honors Program. As a recruiter, Trevor enjoys getting to know his students, while helping them achieve their educational goals through all of the fantastic programs, internships, and study abroad opportunities that Westminster can provide. Trevor’s favorite spot on campus is Nunemaker Place, home of the Honors Program, where he can relax and read on the Lovesacs. Trevor enjoys spending time with friends, hitting the movies, and traveling. Trevor’s favorite local restaurant is either Sawadee, Bombay House, The Philadelphian, or Estee Pizza, depending on his mood and where he has traveled recently.
