Program Overview

Nurses with a BS from Westminster College are highly regarded in the local, regional, and national health care communities. Employers know that Westminster nurses received a top-quality education grounded in liberal arts and are mentored by faculty who maintain an active clinical practice.

Additionally, as an RN to BS graduate, you will have:

  • Extensive knowledge of healthcare policy, finance, and regulation. You’ll gain a deep understanding of policy and regulation development, healthcare reimbursement, and patient advocacy—giving you the ability to stay ahead of the curve as the healthcare world changes. 

  • Proficiency in effective communication and collaboration to improve patient outcomes.  

  • Expertise in health promotion, disease, and injury prevention.

  • A high-level of professionalism and professional values including altruism, autonomy, human dignity, integrity, and social justice.

Community and Networking

You will begin each semester by attending a two-day orientation on campus where you will work directly with your faculty mentor to understand the context and framework of courses for that semester. You will meet and network with other industry professionals, and spend time exploring cases, participating in exercises, and building the fundamental skills that will establish the foundation for your development as one who leads by example. You will meet two additional times during the semester.

Faculty Mentoring

At any point in the semester, you can consult with your faculty mentor. Your faculty mentor will help you develop an individualized learning strategy and give you the amount of support and guidance you need along the way. Throughout the courses, your faculty mentor will apply a clear and consistent set of competencies to help you understand how to make your work even better.

Online Learning

The RN to BS Program is NOT about how many hours you sit in a classroom. You’ll learn from expert, devoted faculty and a cutting-edge, on-demand knowledge database available to you 24/7, no matter where you are. This is a bachelor’s-level program for top-tier nursing professionals and a superior level of experience, self-discipline, and ambition is expected.

Relevant Curriculum

The course work for this program is designed to help you develop expertise in over 200 real-world nursing competencies that are important to health care industry employers. As you progress through the program, you will master skills that you can apply in the workplace right away. The interdisciplinary courses are designed to build on each other and utilize the skills you bring to the program from your work as an RN.
