Westminster Scholars Helping Hands Day 2009
On August 24, 2009 the first group of Westminster Scholars teamed up with the Lacross team to participate in a Helping Hands activity at Hidden Hollow in Sugarhouse. The group worked with Arthur Morris of Utah Open Lands and Lynne Olson of Parleys Rails, Trails and Tunnels association. They learned about the history of the park, native and invasive plant species, and then conducted a scientific survey of plant species in each of the six plant communities. The study will assist the city as it works to eliminate invasive non-native species from the park. After lunch the groups helped pick up trash in the park. Watch a video here.
Parleys Rails, Trails and Tunnels
Parley's Rails, Trails and Tunnels (PRATT) Coalition was created to assist city, county, state and federal agencies and other public and private partners in completing a multi-use trail along I-80 via Parley's Creek Corridor and the Sugar House Rail Spur to connect the Bonneville Shoreline Trail with the Provo-Jordan River Parkway.
