The Westminster College Department of Theatre offers a comprehensive and challenging undergraduate theatre performance major for students wishing to pursue an acting career. The BFA in Theatre performance is designed to provide extensive training in voice, speech, and movement, along with the tools needed to prepare for a professional career as an actor. Every semester includes performance requirements that help to shape and lend experience to the budding actor. Advanced courses focus on career preparation, industry networking, and audition techniques. Outside influence requirements allow students to expand their social network by requiring that they perform for outside venues as well as for Westminster, ensuring that they have built a solid resume by the time they graduate.

The BFA in Theatre Performance integrates classical and contemporary play performance with musical theatre, acting, voice and dance. Distinctive training includes private voice lessons and small class sizes of an 11 to 1 ratio. These aspects allow ample one-on-one time for training with industry professionals to hone in on individual capabilities.

The Department of Theatre regularly hires guest artists and other visiting professionals to direct productions and teach workshops.

Admission to the program is through a yearly audition process conducted in the Sophomore year of study. Students must also pass yearly faculty evaluations in order to remain in the program.
