BFA - Technical Theatre
Nina Vought, MFA
Those who work in technical theatre are the ultimate "insiders." Technical Theatre students develop competency in many aspects of theatre while pursuing mastery in the field of their choice. Students in technical theatre choose an area of emphasis to study which include costume design, scenic design and painting, lighting design and stage management. The hands-on approach to learning prepares graduates for employment in the technical/ design field with in the theatre or in an associated industry. An integral part of the degree is internship/s, designed for students to apprentice one-on-one with working professionals in their area of interest. Faculty members often arrange additional opportunities in a student’s field of study with partner organizations. Upon completion of the program, students will have built a solid portfolio and a network of professional connections and job sources. An interview/portfolio review conducted in the sophomore year of study is required for admission into the BFA in Technical Theatre.
