Jim Martin '97
Jim Martin graduated in 1997 with a degree in elementary education and went on to receive his master’s degree and his doctorate degree in educational leadership and policy in 2008 from the University of Utah. He served as principal of Edison Elementary School in Salt Lake City for four years prior to his current role as principal at Mountain View Elementary School. Jim continues to conduct research on how culturally relevant practices are enacted at the school organization and classroom levels. Critical and analytical thinking skills that he learned at Westminster are put into play as he attempts to improve the quality of education for his students. He also created and leads a group of Salt Lake administrators called Leaders for Equity and Social Justice. This dedication to social responsibility and ethical awareness is reminiscent of his time at Westminster, where he fostered a passion for service and social justice.
