Jamie Joanou, Ph.D.
MA Community Leadership
Jamie Patrice Joanou is an Assistant Professor in the School of Education and teaches the capstone courses for students graduating from the MACL program. She has a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies and an M.A. in the Social and Philosophical Foundations of Education. Dr. Joanou has an extensive amount of experience in qualitative research, including participatory research methods. Her dissertation examined the distinctive interplay between the urban landscape, children living on the street, and outreach organizations in the downtown area of Lima, Peru. Her continued research interests focus on issues of identity development and space among marginalized populations and her areas of specialization include:
