Job Description:


The primary role of this person is to support the Director of Research and Prospect Management by searching for information using the internet and other on-line resources, and helping to maintain prospect information in our alumni donor database, Colleague Advancement.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (and other duties as assigned):

  • Assist Director of Research by doing basic prospect research (Procure data using electronic database searches and on-site investigations)
  • Do data entry to maintain alumni and prospect information in our alumni donor database, Colleague Advancement– including address changes, marrying, divorcing, deceasing entities as source and origin codes.
  • Scan and attach constituent information from external sources.
  • Copying, filing, sorting and compiling various hard copy packets of information.
  • Word processing and/or data entry into spreadsheets as required.
  • Miscellaneous clerical responsibilities.



  • Proficiency using Microsoft Word and Excel, and experience using relational databases.
  • One year experience working in an office setting.
  • Comfortable with working with deadlines and have good writing, grammar and editing/proofreading skills
  • Ability to work on a variety of projects at one time, determining priorities and completing them within a specified time frame.
  • Congenial and able to work comfortably with constituents on and off campus.
  • Proactive, curious, and detail oriented; able to work on their own with little supervision and see projects through to their completion.



  • Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret general business correspondence.



  • Must be able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Must be able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
