Hikmet Sidney Loe earned her M.A. (art history) at Hunter College, CUNY; her M.L.I.S. at the University of California, Berkeley, and her B.A. (art history) at Pennsylvania State University. Hikmet has taught art history at Westminster College since 2006; she also teaches in the Venture Program (Utah Humanities Council) for Westminster College and Weber State University.
Hikmet is a teacher, writer, curator, and lecturer whose work is inspired by the changeable nature of the land, water, and sky of the west. Her research on Robert Smithson's Utah earthwork, the Spiral Jetty, will be published by The University of Utah Press in early 2016. Recent publications include exhibition catalog essays for the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art and the University of Utah College of Architecture and Planning.
She was awarded the "Friend of the Lake Award" in 2014 by FRIENDS of Great Salt Lake for her continued work in benefit of Great Salt Lake.
