Westminster Wins Big in
National Marketing Competition

Salt Lake City-February 5, 2003-Westminster College won six awards for marketing pieces, including Best of Show, from the Admissions Marketing Report magazine. The national magazine, published monthly by the HMR Publications Group, covers the rapidly changing and competitive admissions marketing field for colleges and universities. In collaboration with the Rachel Rogers Design Group based in New York, Westminster placed in the Best of Show category, won gold in the Student Viewbook and Search Piece categories, and bronze in the Total Recruitment Package and Total Advertising Campaign categories. In addition to these awards, Westminster won silver in collaboration with Richter7, a local agency, for a series of ads for high school newspapers. Institutions that received Best of Show honors along with Westminster were Seton Hall University, Cornell University, and Case Western Reserve University.

"It's an honor to receive these awards," said Phil Alletto, Westminster's vice president for student development and enrollment management. "But more importantly, college enrollment has grown significantly as we continue to promote our campus with accuracy and quality to an expanding audience."

The HMR Publications Group gives Annual Admissions Advertising Awards for marketing pieces created by or for educational institutions across the country. Entries are evaluated by a panel of marketing, advertising, and academic professionals. Judging is based on overall creativity of the piece, marketing execution, and impact of message.

"It's not just about glitz, but the substance of the fact that Westminster has a compelling story to tell," said Alletto.

Westminster College is the only private, comprehensive liberal arts college in Utah and one of the very few in the Intermountain West. The college is small, nondenominational and focused intensively on student learning. It prepares its students for success through a strong foundation of liberal education combined with cutting-edge professional programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. U.S. News & World Report consistently ranks Westminster in the top tier of regional colleges and universities in the West, and as an excellent educational value. For more information visit
