We are pleased to offer a variety of Community Education classes. All classes are open to the public! Please note that some classes need to have a minimum number of students enrolled in order for the class to run and are specified below.

The birds are singing, the sun is shining, and it’s getting warmer! So it’s time to join PGA Apprentice Professional, charter member and former coach of the Westminster “Swingin’ Griffins” Varsity Golf Team, Mike Nickas, to GET GOLF READY!
Golf Tune Up is a four-session golf tune-up program designed for those with some golf experience to knock off that early season rust and get you ready for the 2015 golf season!
Whether you are a regular weekly league player or someone that just likes to get out on the links a few times a year, this class will have something for you! In just four weeks’ time you will tackle all the major shots from the green to the tee and prepare your game for what is shaping up to be a fantastic 2015!
Practice balls will be provided for the class courtesy of Rose Park Golf Course.
This course teaches participants the knowledge and skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. The course content and activities prepare participants to recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies and prevent drowning and injuries. Upon successful completion of the requirements of the course the student will receive their American Red Cross Lifeguarding and First Aid certification along with their CPR/AED for Lifeguard certification.
Course Prerequisite: The course prerequisites will be tested on the first day. In order to be eligible for American Red Cross Certification the Prerequisites must be passed. Minimum age to attend the class at Westminster College is 17 years of age.
This class is perfect for anyone thinking about taking up the game, but wants to get started off on the right foot, or for people that have been playing golf for a while, but have never really had any formal instruction. Local PGA Certified Golf Professional, charter member and former coach of the Westminster “Swingin’ Griffins” Varsity Golf Team, Mike Nickas, will help to develop your game from the green all the way back to the tee. You’ll learn the five major shots including putting, chipping, pitching, irons and tee shots; as well as learn about the rules and history of the game, club design, etiquette and how to develop good practice habits. Sign up for this course and you will be well on your way to enjoying the game of a lifetime!
Don’t have your own clubs? Equipment and practice balls will be provided to you on class nights by Rose Park Golf Course.
The first class will take place on Westminster campus in a classroom (TBA), subsequent classes will meet at Rose Park Golf Course.
This class is perfect for anyone that has been playing the game for a while, took one of the beginning golf classes, or has had some form of formal golf instruction, and is thinking about either getting into competitive golf, wants an edge in their weekend game, or is just trying to avoid an awkward situation on the course playing in a business setting. This class is taught by local PGA Certified Golf Professional, charter member and former coach of the Westminster “Swingin’ Griffins” Varsity Golf Team, Mike Nickas. This class is designed to introduce several advanced concepts of the game of golf to the student including advanced swing mechanics, trouble shots, course management, structured practice, etiquette, and game formats. Upon completion of this course the student should have a firm grasp on the finer points of swing theory and should have the ability to participate in a competitive situation.

Classes will meet at Rose Park Golf Course (1386 N. Redwood Rd. SLC, UT 84116)
This is perfect for any one who would like to begin a yoga practice or move deeper into their existing yoga practice. We will focus on the 8 limbs of yoga—including postures, breathing, meditation, chanting, etc. The teacher, Jacqueline Morasco, has been teaching yoga in SL for over ten years and has a special interest in making the practice as individualized as can be. She likes to take a gentle approach while strengthening and stretching the body, mind and breathe.
Beginning Scuba Diving is designed to introduce students to the joy and excitement of scuba diving. Through home study, class sessions and pool sessions, you will learn the essential information to scuba dive safely in a swimming pool. After the initial classes at Dive Utah, you can choose to complete Open Water training at the Homestead Crater in Midway and complete your PADI Open Water Diver certification. This prestigious certification is internationally recognized and will allow you a lifetime of scuba enjoyment. Fees include classroom and pool instruction, texts, scuba gear rental, open water instruction, and Homestead Crater entry fees.
If you already have your open water certification you can join the Advanced Open Water Diver Course. During the course you will learn five additional skills such as how to carefully plan a dive to a depth between 60 - 100 ft., how to preserve the beauty of a delicate reef by using advanced buoyancy skills and much more. You will even have the opportunity to try out an underwater propulsion vehicle! To register for the class email Robyn Hyde. There is a short assignment you will need to complete before the first class on the 17th. Course fee includes classroom and pool instruction, text, scuba gear rental and entry fees to certification sites. Students must have a log book and Recreational Dive Planner (RDP).
Workout with Jacki Sorensen's Fitness class. We combine stretching, flexibility, corework, weight training and aerobic exercise into each class. Jacki's classes use upbeat and motivating music. Participate at your own level. Enjoy a safe, effective approach to fitness.
Jackie Sorensen Dance Aerobics: Jacki Sorensen's aerobic dancing combines stretching, corework, weight training, and aerobic exercise into each class. All routines are carefully choreographed and fit the mood of the music. Come have fun while you slim.
