Welcomes New Board Members
In the 2002-2003 academic year, Westminster College named five new members to its Board of Trustees. With prestigious backgrounds in business, higher education, and professions, the new members will add to the intellectual diversity and expertise of the Board. "Westminster College is fortunate to have such a talented Board of Trustees," said President Michael S. Bassis. "I know our new members will add to the wisdom and capability of the Board and help the college to rise to new levels of visibility and prominence."
Gretchen Anderson comes from a senior management background that has involved building and managing large, multi-location organizations. She has served as a vice president for international firms including NEC, Charles Schwab & Co., Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, and, most recently, Goldman Sachs & Co. Anderson earned a BFA and an MS from the University of Utah.
Having been involved the past few years with Westminster's Foundation Board, Curt P. Crowther finds gratification in helping students fund their education. Crowther is a member of the Salt Lake Rotary Club and also helped found S'PLORE, a charity organization that provides recreational activities for the disabled. Crowther has been the owner and president of Serta Mattress Company since 1985. He has a BS and an MBA from the University of Utah.
Social psychologist Alan E. Guskin is the co-director and senior scholar of the Project on the Future of Higher Education. He is a Distinguished University Professor and University President Emeritus of Antioch University. Guskin has held leadership and faculty positions in various higher education institutions including Clark University and the University of Michigan, where he received a Ph.D. in social psychology. He has remained an active teacher and author throughout his administrative career.
W. Eugene Hansen is a former member of the Presidency of the Seventy of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He has also served in a number of leadership positions for the Church. Prior to his call to the Seventy, Hansen was a trial lawyer in Salt Lake City, who also served as president of the Utah Bar Association. He has served as president of the Utah State Board of Regents and on the Board of Trustees for Utah State University. Hansen received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Utah.
Becky Berkey Potts has a background in marketing, production, and general management. She worked as a general manager for Xerox Corporation and then moved to AT&T Wireless in Salt Lake City, where she currently works as vice president and general manager. Potts has served on many boards, including United Way, Wells Fargo Bank, and American Red Cross. She earned two bachelor's degrees from the University of Southern California.
