Energy & Atmosphere
"Energy & Atmosphere" is the third of the six categories in the LEED® checklist. This category includes optimizing energy performance, on-site renewable energy, green power, and enhanced commissioning.
- Dozens of design features contribute to the total energy savings including occupancy sensors, a three-stage evaporative cooling system, and a heat exchange system.
- A photovoltaic solar panel system was installed on the roof, generating more than 3% of the building's total power.
- Westminster College purchases green energy from Rocky Mountain Power's Blue Sky Program, dedicating sufficient renewable resources to provide more than 35% of the building's energy use.
