Alexandra Monjar (’10), manager of volunteer and tour programs at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts (UMFA), graduated from Westminster’s Honors program with a degree in arts administration and began working at UMFA soon after graduation. “It’s a cool time to be a part of a museum because museums—and any arts organization for that matter—are having to respond to changing dynamics of their community,” she says.

Art has always been part of Alexandra’s education, work, and personal endeavors. In addition to studying and working in the fine arts while at Westminster, she was involved in theatre and served as ASWC’s Film and Lecture Series Chair for two years, working closely with the Utah Film Center. Alexandra also has a passion for dancing; she grew up doing ballet and modern dance, and soon after graduating from Westminster, she started taking pole and aerial classes. She loved it so much that she began teaching classes at the Onyx Pole and Aerial Fitness Studio in Midvale just for fun. “Once I built up more strength, it was really rewarding because there are always new things to learn and new goals to strive for—like holding yourself upside down!” Alexandra and her twin sister are headed to California in the fall to compete in their first big competition at Paragon, an international dance competition.

In addition to her love of all things art, Alexandra is a dedicated vegan—thanks to Michael and Nina Vought’s May Term class on ecological eating. “That was a really transformative class for me; it opened up my eyes to the personal impact that we all have on our environment.”

Alexandra’s experiences at Westminster led her to want to be an active participant in our alumni community. As a member of the Master Track and Alumni Mentoring Program Alumni Committee, she works with other alumni to keep young Westminster alumni engaged in the Westminster community. Alexandra Monjar married Bryan Craven (’10) in September 2013.
