President's Message

In this issue of the Review, you will take a journey through Westminster’s storied past, its dynamic present, and its bright future. Times are changing at Westminster, and many exciting new opportunities are on the horizon for our students, our programs, and our campus. We look forward to enthusiastically embracing those opportunities, including our new on-campus Veterans Center and the innovative research being done by faculty members like Dr. Ellen Behrens.

President's Message | Review Magazine, Spring 2016

At the same time, we also always want to remember the traditions that have shaped the college and honor the people who initiated and continue to uphold those traditions of excellence. I truly believe that achieving a balance between the legacies of our past and the opportunities in our future is one of Westminster’s greatest strengths.

In the spirit of honoring tradition, this issue includes a special spotlight on the Woman’s Board and its upcoming 100th Silver Tea. This board is a piece of living history, and for 100 years its members have generously given their time, resources, and vision to our school. I am proud that both the first lady, Sandy Morgan, and my daughter Amanda are current members of the Woman’s Board.

You will also read about the dynamic history of Westminster’s music program. This is a program that has come a long way: in the ’80s, the music faculty was so desperate for singers that they asked me to sing in the choir. But today, we have a world-class program full of talented faculty and outstanding student performers.

I hope that in reading these articles, you learn more about our identity as a college. I invite you to both cherish our rich history and become part of our promising future.

Best,

President Steve Morgan
