Westminster Announces 2017 Opportunity Quest Business Plan Winners

Westminster Opportunity Quest 2017 winners

February 15, 2017

Coverall Homecare is the winner of Westminster’s 2017 Opportunity Quest Business Plan Competition. Team members Connor Malmberg, Cindy Lancaster and Mark Dibb were awarded a $5,000 check at the annual banquet on February 10.

Coverall Homecare is a company that provides home-maintenance services to a variety of clients, from senior citizens to landlords and property managers. Members can select monthly packages based on their needs, including services like lawn care, carpet cleaning, roof inspections, etc.

“The idea for the company started when I had to help my family care for my grandparents’ home as they were aging,” said Malmberg, who is Coverall’s founder. “When I looked for solutions to the inconvenient problem and found none, it sparked an idea to begin a business. From Opportunity Quest, I have been able to find a viable way to scale the business model as well as discover potential market segments I didn’t see on my own.”

The following companies were also recognized at the banquet:

  • Second Place ($2,000): Cameron Irby and Peter Seppi (Feel the Fit)
  • Third Place ($1,000): Christy Grant and Maria Nappi (Ski Bum-A-Ride)
  • Social Award ($2,000): Josue Tiapale, Mariana Lama and Ide Herrera (Spero for Hope)
  • People’s Choice Award ($500): Spero for Hope
  • Best Video ($500): Robert McFarlane, Dalton Tuor, Christopher Fuoco, Marcus Pace and Noah Blumenfeld (Merge Care)
  • Best Presentation: Merge Care

As Opportunity Quest’s grand-prize winner, Coverall Homecare automatically qualifies for a semi-finalist position in the statewide Utah Entrepreneur Challenge. All Opportunity Quest finalists are eligible to compete in the UE competition, which awards over $100,000 in cash and prizes.

Hosted by Westminster’s Center for Entrepreneurship, Opportunity Quest is a business-innovation competition open to all students at the college. The competition fosters and promotes business growth at the college and university level by giving students a chance to organize, direct and present a business idea to a panel of judges.
