Westminster College Holt Home Formally Dedicated

Holt Home Dedication Gate

Aug 20, 2019

SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster College Holt Home was formally dedicated on Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2019. President Dobkin moved into the Westminster Holt Home just over a year ago after it was generously donated to the college, complete with antique furnishings, by Dale and Sheri Holt.  The 8,019 square-foot property is located several blocks from campus in the Gilmer Park Historic District. The home provides the college an entertainment and gathering space, a fundraising venue as well as a place to house future presidents. President Dobkin, and her husband Randy Chiotti, have hosted almost 30 events at the home in the past year.  “The rich heritage and beauty of this home is a privilege to share with the Westminster community. We’ve hosted many faculty, staff, students and community leaders in the home’s inspiring spaces,” said President Dobkin. “The college is honored to steward the home, ensuring it’s enjoyed for many more generations.”  The iconic .83-acre property has a storied history, starting with the original builder and owner, J.G. Vincent, who was a successful restaurateur. Former U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt once visited the home, as did governors from western states during conventions.  Built in 1926, this French Chateau is an architectural masterpiece and was restored in 2003 by artisans and craftsmen. The Holts took tremendous pride in their home, and for years they researched and worked to restore the home, collecting original furniture that was once owned by the Vincent family. The Holt family has a long, meaningful connection to the college – four children and one grandchild attended the institution. The Holts along with President Dobkin, Randy Chiotti, and other distinguished guests formally dedicate the Westminster Holt Home with an unveiling at the residence gates.
