About Dr. Örn B. Bodvarsson

Orn Bodvarsson holds a Ph.D. in economics from Simon Fraser University and specializes in labor economics with an emphasis on the economics of immigration. He has published 34 refereed journal articles, multiple refereed book chapters, and a published an Elsevier book on the economics of immigration. He has won many teaching awards and has served as a Research Fellow at the Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA) in Bonn, Germany since 2007. He served as vice president and a board member of the Chinese Economist Society for two terms and as president of the Minnesota Economic Association and the Western Social Science Association.

Bodvarsson has held multiple dean positions, including the founding dean of the School of Public Affairs at St. Cloud State University (SCSU). He has also served as the SCSU chair of the Department of Management, interim chair of the Department of Social Work, director of the Center for Economic Education and a faculty senator. He founded and directed the MS in Applied Economics program at SCSU for 7 years. In addition to his career at St. Cloud State, Bodvarsson taught at Sacramento State, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Ball State University, University of Montana, Whitman College, Western Washington University and Simon Fraser University.
