Westminster Announces 2016 Summer Camp Lineup

April 7, 2016 A variety of camps will be offered for youth of all ages SALT LAKE CITY - Westminster's summer camps offer a variety of programs for youth of all ages and interests that will take place on campus from June through July. The college offers the following camps that are open to the public: Girls' Sports & Recreation Camp (June 6-9) Girls Sports & Recreation Camp is an opportunity for girls ages 6-14 to have the opportunity to participate in a multitude of sports and recreational activities. The goal of the camp is to introduce girls to as many sports and recreational opportunities as possible. Activities may include volleyball, basketball, soccer, lacrosse, golf, rock climbing, aquatic activities, fitness fun, hip-hop, yoga, pickle ball, track & field and martial arts. Price: $145-$285 Click here for more information. SummerSong Camp (June 13-17) Westminster's voice program hosts the third annual SummerSong music festival for young singers and pianists. Thanks to the generous sponsorship of the Florence J. Gillmor Foundation, 25 high-school-age students will receive a full scholarship for a weeklong immersion. Activities include private voice lessons and coaching, master classes, workshops, acting classes, rehearsals, evening activities (optional) and a final showcase recital. Aviation Camp (June 19-24) Aviation summer camp is open to students entering their sophomore, junior or senior year in high school. Aviation camp is a great way to get a feel for college and find out if an aviation career might be right for you. During the camp, participants will have two training flights and use the flight simulator. Campers will stay in the Westminster Residence Halls, enjoy meals on campus and participate in a wide variety of aviation and outdoor-themed activities. Price: $799 Click here for more information. AWE+SUM Camp (June 20-23) ATTEND WESTMINSTER - EXPLORE SCIENCE - USE MATH, aka AWE+SUM, is an overnight summer camp for girls entering the 8th grade this fall. Campers will explore math and science in hands-on, interactive workshops, and will get to enjoy lots of other fun activities on the campus while seeing just how much fun you can have while applying math and science principles! It is sponsored by Westminster College, American Association of University Women, and other generous donors. Price: $0-300 (scholarships are available). Click here for more information. Money 101 Camp (June 20-24) Money 101 is for youth aged 13-17. Participants will learn the basics of money management, how credit is established and maintained and the basics of investing. The camp will be held in the Westminster Center for Financial Analysis, which simulates a securities trading floor. Participants will create a stock portfolio that can be tracked all summer long. This day camp will also cover many of the requirements for the scouting Personal Management merit badge. Price: $195 Click here for more information. Athletics Camps (various dates) Westminster's Athletics Camps offer students a variety of sports to choose from and are open to grades 1-12. From soccer to volleyball, young athletes will receive training and advice from Westminster athletics coaches and players. Both overnight and day camp options are available. Athletic camps include: Boys Basketball, Boys Lacrosse, Boys Soccer, Girls Basketball, Girls Lacrosse and Girls Soccer. Price: Varies depending on camp. Click here for more information.
