Mar 14, 2013

Mar. 14, 2013 SALT LAKE CITY - Westminster College students Chris Ciancone and Abby Speicher are top ten finalists in the Utah Entrepreneur Challenge business plan competition. The state-wide competition had 121 submissions from colleges across Utah. It is the first time Westminster students have taken two of the top ten finalist positions. Ciancone's company, LIYEN Inc. produced its SLYDER asthma inhaler spacing device, which is more portable and aesthetically appealing than traditional spacers. Speicher's business, Daakye, sells purses to generate funding to help African children receive an elementary education. In the final round of competition, Ciancone and Speicher, an Honors student, will each pitch their business plans to a panel of industry professionals. A grand prize of $40,000 will presented at an awards banquet on April 9, 2013.
