CFA's new stock ticker, video walls provide students with more dynamic content and imagery
SALT LAKE CITY
Westminster College's Center for Financial Analysis (CFA) recently announced the installation of a new stock ticker and video boards that will provide business students with a more dynamic learning experience.
The installation gives users access to real-time global market data, in-depth financial information and historical economic data.
"This is an exciting time and shows the commitment of Westminster College to provide a state-of-the-art facility for students, alumni and the community," said Jonathan McKenzie, CFA director. "The new technology helps create a high-energy environment for learning and interacting with the domestic and international financial markets."
The CFA opened in Westminster's Bill and Vieve Gore School of Business in 2002. The center is an advanced computer classroom/lab that is equipped with the same tools, data and technology used by Wall Street traders, investors and fund managers. Some of the tools that students use include: FactSet, MorningStar, ValueLine, etc., which provide unrivaled access to market information.
"The central purpose of our center is to help blend classroom theory with real-world, first-hand experience," added Jin Wang, dean of the Bill and Vieve Gore School of Business. "In addition to our students, the benefits of these new upgrades will be felt by the community and local high school students who come to the college as part of programs like the financial literacy program funded through the Larry H. and Gail Miller Family Foundation."
In September, the college will celebrate the Bill and Vieve Gore School of Business's 25th
Anniversary. The school offers undergraduate and graduate programs, including MBA, MBA-Technology Management, Competency-Based MBA, Master of Accountancy, international business, management, marketing, aviation flight operations, aviation management, accounting, finance and economics.
