Westminster's Chris Dorich Named National Soccer Coach of the Year

United States Adult Soccer Association honors Dorich's nearly 30 years of coaching SALT LAKE CITY - Westminster College is pleased to announce Chris Dorich has been named National Coach of the Year, Region IV by the United States Adult Soccer Association. Dorich is in his 29th year at the helm of the Westminster men's soccer team. Chris Dorich is one of the most experienced coaches in Utah. In addition to his coaching at Westminster, he has served as executive vice president of the Utah Soccer Association for over 20 years. He holds a class B coaching license and serves as the state coaching director for the Utah Soccer Association. Under Dorich's coaching and leadership 90 academic all-American award winners have come out of Westminster and his teams have qualified for the NAIA playoffs 21 out of 28 years. In that time he has amassed 265 career victories and 18 winning seasons. His teams have reached 10-plus wins 10 times, including six straight from 1990 to 1995. His 265 career wins rank 22nd in NAIA history all-time and 10th among active coaches. This season, Westminster is 10-4-1 overall with three games remaining in the regular season. They have secured a second straight winning season and haven't had a losing season since 2005. Dorich began his collegiate soccer career at Edinboro State University (NCAA II) in Edinboro, Pennsylvania. He graduated from St. Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, with a degree in mechanical engineering in 1975, received his M.B.A. from Westminster College in 1996 and his Masters Degree in Technology Management from Westminster College in 2007. Dorich exemplifies life-long learning. His passion for education continues to influence many of his players.
