Westminster Offers Free Tax Preparation to Low/Moderate Income Families, Small Businesses Filing Schedule C
Feb 9, 2017
SALT LAKE CITY—The Westminster Pro Bono Tax Clinic offers free tax preparation and financial advocacy services to low- to moderate-income families and small businesses filing schedule C from January 30–April 18, 2017. The clinic operates out of the Salt Lake County Government Center during tax season and on-site at Westminster the rest of the year. Taxpayers can sign up for services by making an appointment, walk-in or using the drop-off service.
All submitted forms are prepared by Westminster’s Pro Bono Tax Clinic students, who are IRS-certified with advanced accounting education. The clinic is directed by Emily Rains, tax attorney and Westminster assistant professor of accounting.
In addition to free preparation of federal and multi-state taxes, the clinic has partnered with AAA-Credit Foundation, Department of Workforce Services, Salt Lake County Treasurer, Salt Lake City Corporation and the Community Development Corporation of Utah to process applications and schedule appointments. Spanish-speaking tax preparers are also available.
To schedule an appointment, call 211. For more information, call 801-210-Tax1 (8291) or visit westminstercollege.edu/taxclinic.
