Sheila Rappazzo Yorkin Named one of Utah Business’s “30 Women to Watch”

Sheila Yorkin Utah Business 30 Women to Watch

May 4, 2017

SALT LAKE CITY—Utah Business magazine has named Sheila Rappazzo Yorkin as one of its “30 Women to Watch” for 2017. Yorkin will be honored at the Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake City on May 17, 2017.

The “30 Women to Watch” celebrates Utah’s most successful and influential women as selected by their peers. This year’s selectees came from industries ranging from higher education to healthcare to real estate and banking.

Yorkin is currently the chief marketing officer for Westminster College in Salt Lake City. She has been an invaluable asset to Utah’s business and higher-education communities for more than 22 years. During Salt Lake City’s successes during the 2002 Olympics and Utah’s economic boom, Yorkin was busy strategizing and implementing triumphs for the community. A transplant from upstate New York, she came to Utah in 1995 for economic opportunities, outdoor recreation, and of course, the skiing. She has devoted a majority of her professional career to advancing Salt Lake City’s local and national reputation—and connecting with people and organizations that have helped make the city one of the best places to live and work in the country.

As the former director of marketing and communications for EDCUtah, Sheila managed all facets of public relations and marketing to strategically position EDCUtah’s brand and the state of Utah as a business destination. During her time at EDCUtah, the state gained over 20,000 jobs; and businesses like Goldman Sachs, Workday, Adobe and Black Diamond either expanded or relocated in Utah. She also strengthened EDCUtah partnerships with the Governor’s Office, cities/counties and private businesses around the state—enhancing EDCUtah’s contributions to economic development.

Yorkin earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in political science in 1993 from Richmond University in Virginia. She is currently the communications chair of the Utah Women’s Forum and vice chair on Salt Lake Acting Company’s (SLAC) board of trustees. She has served on the board of directors at Utah Rivers Council, Visit Salt Lake, and Discovery Gateway Children’s Museum.
