SALT LAKE CITY—Westminster College Aviation has earned a five-year accreditation renewal from the Aviation Accreditation Board International (AABI). Westminster Aviation is one of just 38 schools worldwide to receive AABI’s specialized accreditation.

Westminster Aviation first earned AABI accreditation in 2012 after a curriculum re-design that included enhanced crisis and emergency decision-making. Graduates of Westminster Aviation also qualify for the reduced-hours Airline Transport Pilot certification, which allows them to qualify for jobs with 1,000 hours of total time rather than the typical 1,500 hours. The rigorous program positions aviation students at the forefront of the industry.

“Institutions that earn AABI accreditation must meet high standards of integrity and performance,” said Melissa Koerner, dean of the Bill and Vieve Gore School of Business at Westminster. “This accreditation assures our students that they are receiving a high-quality, relevant education that prepares them for successful careers in the aviation industry.”

Westminster’s aviation program in the Bill and Vieve Gore School of Business offers degrees in aviation management and flight operations. The programs combine high academic standards with high flight-training standards to produce pilots and managers who think critically and have a thorough understanding of professional demands they will face in an ever-changing industry.
