Westminster College, in partnership with the United States Ski and Snowboard Association, is pleased to support the Westminster College/USSA Tuition Grant program. We recognize that achieving academic success can play an important role for world-class athletes, such as yourself. To help you fulfill your educational aspirations while you continue to train and compete, Westminster College has become theOfficial Partner of Higher Education to the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Teams. In this capacity, Westminster offers current national team athletes (A - C Teams) and qualifying U.S. Ski Team alumni the opportunity to apply for the Westminster College/USSA Grant program, which could potentially cover your total tuition costs!
Westminster College is located in Salt Lake City, only 30 minutes from Park City and their world-class resorts and training facilities. As Utah's only private, comprehensive liberal arts school, Westminster College prepares its students for success through a strong foundation of liberal arts education combined with cutting-edge professional programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Westminster College is nationally ranked:
- US News and World Report consistently ranks Westminster College in the top tier of colleges and universities in the West, and as a 'best value.'
- The Princeton Review's “Best 378 Colleges” (2014 edition) ranks Westminster as a top college.
- The Princeton Review’s 2013 “Guide to 322 Green Colleges” includes Westminster for its sustainability efforts.
All current A, B and C national team members are eligible to apply for the Westminster College/USSA Tuition Grant program; however, you must meet Westminster's standards for admission. U.S. Ski Team alumni are also eligible to participate in the tuition grant program provided that they began their education at Westminster before they retired from the U.S. Ski Team.
More than 140 USSA student athletes have taken advantage of this tuition grant program, which is only available at Westminster College. Grants will be awarded to athletes based on criteria including their team ranking, grade point average (GPA), high school or college class standings and availability of grant tuition credits.
Westminster College's academic calendar is based on semesters, so we invite you to apply for the May, summer, fall, and spring semesters immediately. Since there are a limited number of tuition credits available, we recommend applying for this program soon.
Tuition Grant Requirements
We encourage all members of the US Ski and Snowboard Teams (A - C Teams) to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to pursue your college education while you continue to train and compete. Tuition grants are available for all A, B, and C team athletes and to qualifying U.S. Ski Team alumni who are recommended and approved through USSA and the Westminster College START Center.
Current A, B, and C team athletes need to apply to and be accepted to Westminster College, according to the college’s general admission requirements.
U.S. Ski Team alumni who participated in the Westminster tuition grant program while they were active U.S. Ski Team members are eligible to continue their studies under the grant program.
Tuition grants are awarded by the following criteria:
Current team ranking (A → B → C → Former Westminster/U.S. Ski Team Athletes)
Current high school GPA or college GPA
Current high school or college class standings
Tuition grant availability per semester, based on grant availability, team ranking, progress towards degree and alumni/active athlete standing.
If an athlete is expelled or is eliminated from the U.S. Ski Team, the tuition credit will be retracted at the end of that particular semester.
