Emergency Funds Last Call: September 11, 2020

September 14, 2020

Dear students,

Westminster has been actively working to distribute the remaining CARES/HEERF funding as emergency grants to eligible students. Emergency grants are allocated for expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus. CARES Act funds are limited to those eligible to receive federal aid. Although this aid is tied to federal aid eligibility, Westminster set aside institutional funds for those ineligible to complete a FAFSA. All students may apply for emergency funding as long as their expenses are due to the disruption or closure of campus operations, facilities, or resources due to COVID-19 during the spring or fall semesters. Those eligible to complete a FAFSA are required to submit a FAFSA and meet federal eligibility requirements to receive these funds.

There will be one final round of emergency grants. This final round of funding will assist students who have experienced expenses during the Fall 2020 semester related to the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus (including but not limited to food or housing insecurity, course materials, technology, health care, and child care). Students will be able to request up to $500 of emergency aid through this final round of funding. Those who received notification last week of the $300 emergency grant are not required to submit an application for those already approved funds. This application is in addition to that aid. Those already approved for a Fall 2020 emergency grant through this application process are ineligible. This provides the opportunity for additional students to receive the financial help they need. Westminster is now accepting online applications for the remaining HEERF funds on Westminster’s COVID-19 page. Emergency grant applications will be reviewed until all funds have been spent. Questions about these funds should be sent to financialaidappeals@westminstercollege.edu.
