Dean of Students Update on Fall 2020
May 28, 2020
President Dobkin announced earlier this month that Westminster plans to welcome all of our students to campus this fall. I would like to share with you the academic calendar and some updated COVID-19 safety measures. We will resume in-person instruction on campus for the fall semester with an adjusted academic calendar along with established health and safety protocols.
The fall semester will begin as previously scheduled on August 19, 2020. Fall break is removed from the academic calendar, enabling the semester to end early on December 4, 2020. The last week of classes between Thanksgiving and December 4 will likely be held remotely. This approach reduces the risk of illness, just as the flu season begins, by minimizing travel for our community. Visit the "Academic Calendar" webpage to view and download the calendar.
Campus Safety Requirements
Everyone on the Westminster campus is expected to follow health and safety measures, including face-covering requirements for those physically able to comply, social distancing, and proper hygiene. Specific classroom, dining, and residential hall protocols are being developed at this time.
Westminster will continue to monitor national, state and local developments, guidance from health organizations, and the decisions of higher education systems and institutions around the country. I continue to be impressed with our campus community and the ways we are supporting each other through this challenging time. As a campus community, we look forward to welcoming you back to campus for the fall academic term. Until then, please stay safe and be well during the summer break.
If you have specific questions or need assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out to the Dean of Students Office (801.832.2230).
