Important January Move-In Requirements
December 4, 2020
Westminster College hopes you have a wonderfully refreshing holiday break. The college encourages you to take the time to rest up from a rigorous and unique term. The college also encourages you to practice good COVID-19 behaviors around whomever you are with during the break. Keep wearing your mask, practice good social distancing, and wash your hands often. This will be helpful for your health and safety while taking good care of those you love. Westminster has prepared the following information to help you plan and prepare for your return to campus in January. Please review the contents and keep it handy for the coming weeks.
State of Utah Testing Requirements for College Students
The state of Utah changed their January 1 testing requirement of college students to apply only at private institutions with more than 10,000 students. While the state testing mandate no longer applies to Westminster, the college will continue to make your health and the health of our community a top priority. Regular COVID-19 testing will continue on campus during Spring Semester 2021. Westminster students must adhere to the testing protocols, which includes submitting a negative test prior to moving into the residence halls.
COVID-19 Testing Requirement
The residence halls open for move-in on January 11 and 12. You will receive an email by Wednesday, December 9, confirming your arrival time. All residential students must complete a COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2), Antigen FIA test, or PCR test 120 hours prior to moving into the residence halls. Students are required to upload test results to the COVID-19 test form found in eRezlife. Residents will not be able to access the halls with ID cards without completing the form and submitting test results.
Testing sites are available across the country at community-based testing sites (many free of charge). You may also ask your primary care physician. You may need to tell them that you are required to be tested by your college. We recognize that it may not be possible for all students to get a test in advance.
For those traveling from out of state or from outside the Salt Lake City area who are unable to get a test prior to arriving, please schedule a test at Student Health Services. Student Health Services will have a limited number of appointments available on your arrival day.
If you are currently living in the Salt Lake area and cannot get a test at an off-campus location, please call to schedule a time to visit Student Health Services beginning Jan. 4, 2021.
If your travel plans include flying, we recommend that you practice quarantine-like health and safety precautions when you return to the residence halls. This would include wearing a mask inside the hall and your room when you are around other people. Please also wash your hands often and practice good cleaning procedures around your personal living spaces.
