Increased COVID-19 Precautions for Spring Semester
December 22, 2021
Dear Westminster community,
When the college opens after winter break, we will be returning to stricter COVID-19 protocols because of an anticipated surge from Omicron. Omicron is extremely transmissible with infections spreading much faster than other variants. Breakthrough cases are likely even in our highly vaccinated campus population. Early data shows Omicron can evade immune protection but those fully vaccinated with a booster may be less likely to experience severe disease and hospitalization.
Please get a booster shot to prevent severe illness and get tested before you return to campus spring semester. Residential students will be required to provide a negative test before moving in. Instructions will be provided from the Office of Residence Life.
Enhanced Spring 2022 Semester COVID-19 precautions include the following:
- Do not eat or drink in classrooms.
- Keep wearing masks indoors. This is a requirement.
- Upgrade your mask to KN95 or make sure your cloth mask is multi-layer with an insert.
The college continually monitors community transmission rates and will adjust campus safety measures as needed. Visit Westminster’s Coronavirus Resources page for detailed campus safety, testing, and vaccine information.
