New Mask and Vaccine Requirements
There are important updates to the college’s mask and vaccine requirements. These changes are crucial to the health of our campus community, and we are confident this will help us come together to have a safe and fulfilling Fall Semester.
New Mask Requirement
With the recent increases in transmission rates, and consistent with CDC recommendations, we are reinstating our requirement for masks indoors, in shared spaces. The CDC recommends masks for everyone indoors in areas of substantial or high transmission. Salt Lake County has high transmission in the CDC index. We will continue to monitor data and recommendations and make changes accordingly.
Vaccine Requirement by October 15
President Dobkin, with support of the cabinet and Westminster Board of Trustees, will be requiring the vaccine for all employees and registered students. Faculty, adjunct faculty, full- and part-time staff, and all students will need to be fully vaccinated by October 15, 2021. The FDA will give full approval to the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine by early September, giving our community up to six weeks to be fully vaccinated by October 15. Legally required exemptions (health/medical and religious) will be honored in this process.
Declare Your Vaccination Status
In order to gauge how vaccinated our campus community currently is, please fill out a vaccination attestation form—declaring if you are or are not vaccinated. If you attest to being vaccinated, you will have completed the vaccination requirement. If you have not been vaccinated, we will continue to follow up so that you can resubmit the form once vaccinated.
An In-Person Fall Semester
We believe that the unique Westminster learning environment is best experienced in community with other learners. Students, faculty, and staff should be prepared for an on-campus learning and working environment—with masks inside for everyone, for now, consistent with CDC guidance.
With the full opening of campus, staff temporary work arrangements related to the pandemic are no longer in effect. The college is working on flexible and shared work options that may be available in consultation and with the approval of supervisors.
The college will continue our Fall Semester plans for full, in-person capacity in
classrooms, at events, and in campus facilities. The only change right now is wearing
Indoor events such as President Dobkin’s Fall Address for faculty and staff will be held in-person, inside, with masks required.
Outdoor events like ASW’s Block Party and the faculty/staff BBQ will continue as previously planned. We are excited to come together in community with everyone’s health top of mind.
