About Jennifer Simonds
I am originally from Vermont, where my parents put me and my siblings on skis as soon as we could walk. I spent my teenage years in the Seattle area and then headed off for Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, NY (my first SLC, class of 1989). There I studied music and theatre and fell in love with the small liberal arts college setting. After I grew tired of pushing people out of my way to get to work in Manhattan the year after college, I returned to Seattle where I got an MA in Counseling (Seattle University, 1997) and spent a number of years as a child and family therapist and corporate consultant. My love for research called and I went to the University of Oregon for a Ph.D. in developmental and personality psychology. Connect all of the dots and you've got me at Westminster, dramatically conveying my love of psychology and telling stories from the field in the classroom, all within close proximity to some pretty amazing slopes!
