Kelly Robbins

Hpw - Adjunct
Human Performance and Wellness

Born and raised in rural Oregon near the town of Corvallis, Kelly developed an early affection for the outdoors and spent countless hours exploring the woods near his house. A college soccer career took him to St. Paul, MN, after which he moved to Salt Lake City, UT in the summer of 1999. Although he did not plan on staying through the following winter, he ended up calling SLC and the Wasatch Mountains home for 20 years. He is currently based out of Bend, Oregon, where he is able to work throughout the Intermountain West.

Kelly has been guiding and teaching avalanche classes for Utah Mountain Adventures since the 05/06 winter season, and he has been working for NOLS since 2007. In 2012, Kelly finished his M.S. in Outdoor Education at the University of Utah, and he joined Westminster College as an Adjunct Faculty in 2013, where he has developed several backcountry touring, avalanche, and snow camping classes. Kelly has also worked as an AIARE Course Leader for several years and joined their Instructor Trainer team in 2019.

Despite all the time in the mountains, however, the true pleasures in his life are his wife Kat and son Zander.
