Connection Communities

Connection Communities give you the opportunity to start building your own Westminster community by placing you on a floor with people who are inspired by the same things you are—and want to get involved. This isn’t just clubs. This is a way to live your passions and connect with others.

The Diversity Floor works to create a supportive environment for students who are historically underrepresented in higher education, as well as those who wish to promote diversity and inclusion on Westminster's campus and the wider community. This floor will engage residents in culturally relevant experiences on and off campus and bring them into a larger conversation about power and privilege.

The Eco Living Floor encourages its residents to make personal efforts toward sustainability in their everyday lives and in the Westminster community—and gives them the tools to make it happen. Students living in this community will have the opportunity to participate in events like the Climate March and 4-Liter Challenge, engage with guest speakers, and spend time in Westminster's organic garden.

The Arts Connection Community gives students an interdisciplinary learning experience by connecting residents of the floor to arts programs throughout the community. Students will have the opportunity to explore the arts at Westminster, Sugar House, and across Salt Lake.

The Outdoor Recreation (OR) Floor emphasizes community building and access to local outdoor adventures. From a cross country skiing or climbing trip to service work and on-campus events, residents will have experiences that are both recreational and educational.

The Wellness Floor is a community for students interested in overall healthy living—which can mean multiple things to different people. Students living in this community are encouraged to take part in new experiences, like visiting the local farmer's market, attending the wellness fair, learning about healthy treats and food choices, and trying different fitness classes or methods of exercise.

The Community-Engaged Learning Floor fosters a community of students who are interested in community involvement, volunteering, and making a difference. With access to fun and educational service opportunities and resources, students on this floor develop a lasting passion for civic responsibility. Students living in this community will have the opportunity to volunteer with nonprofit organizations, attend social awareness events, and engage with the Dumke Center for Civic Engagement.
