Join the Big Brothers Big Sisters group on campus!
BBBS jpg.jpg We're starting a group to go to Whittier Elementary School (16 S & 3 E) on Wednesdays, Thursdays, OR Fridays. Wednesday or Thursday times would be for one hour between 2:45-5:00pm or Friday would be 12:30-1:30pm. It's a year-long commitment, but if you live out of state or will be travelling a lot during the summer, you can stay in touch with your "Little" via phone, e-mail, postcards, etc. You have the option to switch days between semesters should that be better for your schedule. Contact Kayla Whidden at ksw0822@westminstercollege.edu. Click on the image to the left to see the flier!

Utah AIDS Foundation's Bike for Life needs riders!
bike1.jpg Bike for Life needs your help! This is the second year that the Utah AIDS Foundation is presenting Bike for Life. Registration is hurting...we need more riders! The ride is a simple hill climb up to the summit of Emigration Canyon. There is a turn-around/refreshment station about halfway up near the Hogle Zoo. The finish line is at the 9th and 9th Street Festival so fun is to be had by everyone! Registration begins at 8:00 am this Saturday September 18, 2010. You can register on site the day of, or before hand by visiting www.utahaids.org. Registration is free, and any money you raise goes directly to the Utah AIDS Foundation to help support their community based programming. There are incentives too like an invitation to our exclusive 500 Club party hosted by Gastronomy. For information, contact Kit Spencer at chance.et.amour@gmail.com.

International Coastal Cleanup
ocean-conservancy-logo1.jpg For the past 25 years, the Ocean Conservancy has organized the International Coastal Cleanup (ICC), which is a marine debris collection that has grown to over 6,000 sites worldwide. Last year, there were close to 500,000 volunteers and 7.4 million pounds of trash cleaned up in over 100 countries. Utah has taken part in this cleanup the past seven years, but with little presence and impact. Through collaboration with The Living Planet Aquarium, Friends of Great Salt Lake, and Great Salt Lake Institute, the ICC is going to be bigger and more effective than ever in 2010. Four sites in Utah have currently been chosen; Great Salt Lake Marina, Jordan River Park, Jordanelle State Park, and Legacy Nature Preserve. Lets work together to clean up the amazing and unique waterways Utah has to offer.
