About R. Chris Torman, CRNA

Chris Torman is a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) living in Layton, UT and working in Northern Utah.  He is an educator and clinician and takes great pride in providing safe, excellent, anesthesia care while teaching graduate students to do the same.  He graduated from Weber State University in 1999 with a bachelor of science in nursing and from the University of South Carolina with a Masters in Nurse Anesthesia in 2003.  Chris is currently in the process of completing his Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) at the University of Northern Colorado in Greely with an anticipated graduation in 2015.

He is the assistant program director of the Masters of Science in Nurse Anesthesia (MSNA) program at Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah.  He is also an independent practice nurse anesthetist at several locations in northern Utah including Physician Surgical Center, Ralston Plastic Surgery, Mount Ogden Surgical Center and South Ogden Specialty Surgical Center.  He works in an anesthesia care team model at the Moran Surgical Center at the University of Utah, and Ogden Regional Medical Center.  Chris was the former president of the Utah Association of Nurse Anesthetists (UANA) and has been an active opponent of bringing Anesthesia Assistants to the state of Utah.  He remains politically active in issues that affect the practice of anesthesia and is currently the federal political director for the UANA.

A native of Utah, Chris has been married to his wife, Amy, for 20 years and they have five children.  His family is his highest priority and his greatest joys come from his role as husband and father.   He believes that spiritual life is just as important as temporal.  He is a well-founded member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  Chris enjoys many activities which include boating with his family, wakeboarding, waterskiing, snow skiing, basketball, racquetball, golf, and anything else that he can do to kindly compete with himself and others.
