DAVID HALLIDAY, one of the most demanded musicians in the Mountain West, is an Associate Adjunct Professor of Saxophone and jazz combo coach at the University of Utah, and a private saxophone instructor, Survey of Jazz teacher, and the director of the Jazz Ensemble at Westminster College in Salt Lake City.  He is the winner of the “Outstanding College Performer” award from the Reno Jazz Festival (1996), a four-time “Outstanding Tenor Sax Soloist” winner at the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival (1999-2002), and an IAJE “Special Citation For Outstanding Musicianship” recipient at the UNC/Greeley Jazz Festival.  A California native who relocated to Utah in 1999 to attend Brigham Young University on a full music scholarship, David’s musical travels include 45 United States and 8 European countries.  Numerous television shows and commercials including Showtime’s Inside The NFL, ABC’s Touched By An Angel, and NFL Network’s Top Ten series, have featured David’s saxophone playing.  David appeared on Josh Groban’s AWAKE LIVE DVD, BET (Black Entertainment Television), and the WB’s Everwood, and is routinely featured in Synthesis (BYU’s top jazz ensemble) highlights on KBYU-TV.  David’s original compositions have aired on HBO, CBS, Speed TV, and numerous other networks worldwide.  Some of the distinguished musicians with whom David has shared the stage include Dizzy Gillespie, Ben Folds, The Temptations, Wynton Marsalis, Josh Groban, The Four Tops, Kurt Elling, Linda Eder, and the Utah Symphony.  David opened for multi-platinum jazz artist Diana Krall at Red Butte Gardens (Salt Lake City) in July of 2009.  As a teen, David studied with Grammy-winning jazz sax legend Joe Henderson.  He attended Loyola University in New Orleans, where he was a member of the now legendary funk band, Galactic.  David founded his own record label, Lone Peak Sound, with his debut CD Flamingo in 2003 and has since produced several more records including Chase Baird’s 2010 release Crosscurrent, which received 3-and-a-half stars in Down Beat magazine.  David enjoys teaching all levels of saxophone and jazz improvisation (on all instruments) privately at his home studio in Salt Lake City and maintains a staff position at the Jackson Hole Music Experience’s Rock ’N’ Roll Camp in Jackson, Wyoming.  He also leads and plays saxophone and keyboards in the pop group The Number Ones.  For more, please visit David's website:
