The goal of our research is to better understand connections between two neurotransmitter genes, and a neural developmental gene and attention and emotional regulation. These genes have been separately implicated in emotional regulation and attention and some versions of these genes may predispose people to ADHD and major depression.
The purpose of our summer work is to develop genetic tools that will allow us to measure emotional regulation and attention in groups of people with different variations of the genes. Once we have collected genetic and behavioral data from participants, our goal is to determine if there are interactions between these three genes and how they influence behaviors.
