Successful higher education fundraising leader joins Westminster
SALT LAKE CITY
- Westminster College is pleased to announce the appointment of Staci Carson as vice president for advancement. Carson brings nearly 20 years of experience in higher education fundraising strategy, management and marketing to Westminster College.
Previous to Westminster, Carson served as associate vice president for institutional advancement at Southern Utah University and was integral in planning and implementing the university's successful $100 million comprehensive campaign, which was completed in December 2013. Prior to her tenure at SUU, Carson was the director of capital giving at the University of Puget Sound and senior regional manager of capital giving at Bucknell University.
At Westminster, Carson will be responsible for shaping the fundraising priorities for the college's comprehensive campaign and leading the college's veteran advancement team in achieving campaign goals.
"I am honored to be selected as vice president for advancement during an exciting and transformative time at Westminster College," said Carson. "With the recent inauguration of President Stephen Morgan, Westminster has embarked on a new chapter in its history, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to contribute to the college's success."
After a nationwide search, Carson was selected to lead Westminster's advancement division because of her knowledge of industry best practices, as well as her understanding of Utah's unique philanthropic culture.
"Staci brings with her a deep knowledge of the philanthropic community in Utah, and the relationships she has developed throughout the state will allow the college to progress quickly into the public phase of our comprehensive campaign," said Stephen Morgan, president of Westminster College. "Her energetic style and strong leadership attributes make her a great addition to our campus."
Carson is active in the higher education fundraising community and is a longstanding member of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). She has presented at numerous CASE regional conferences on best practices in fundraising. Carson earned a master's degree in public administration and a bachelor's degree in communication from Southern Utah University.
