Westminster College requires that all first- and second-year students live on campus. Students become true community members by living on campus and studies show that students who live on campus are more successful in the classroom and graduate at higher rates.
Exemptions to Westminster's 2-year residency requirement will be considered for:
- Students enrolled as a part-time student (11 or fewer credit hours for each academic semester)
- Students who are married, domestically partnered, and/or have legally dependent children
- Students with medical circumstances
- Students with extreme financial hardship
- Financial hardship is examined on a case-by-case basis and is determined based upon an income level at or below 150% of the United States poverty level as defined by the most recently revised poverty income guidelines published by the United States Department of Health and Human Services. Financial hardship is not asking for a savings but is based on need.
- Students with other special circumstances that create substantial personal hardship
- Students over 21 years of age on the first day of classes

Apply for a fall semester residency exemption by March 15. Decision notifications will be made by March 20. Appeals are due April 1 with a decision notification made by April 15th.
Apply for a fall semester residency exemption by June 15. Decision notifications will be made by July 1. Appeals are due July 15 with a decision notification made by Aug. 1.
Apply for a spring semester residency exemption by Dec. 1. Decision notifications will be made by Dec. 8. Appeals are due by Dec. 21 with a decision notification made by Jan. 8.
