Fire Prevention

  • Be aware of electrical safety issues. Do not overload extension cords, power strips, surge protectors, or multi-outlet adapters.
  • Power strips, surge protectors, and extension cords must be plugged directly into wall outlets. They may not be “daisy-chained,” or plugged into each other in series.
  • Plug electrical equipment directly into wall outlets.
  • Tampering or modifying fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, or other components of building fire protection systems is prohibited. Contact the campus fire marshal at 801.832.2529 for consultation if any modifications may be necessary.
  • Fire sprinkler heads and sprinkler pipes may not be painted, or used to hang any objects, decorations, or materials.
  • Smoking (including the use of e-cigarettes, vaping devices, and hookah) is prohibited in all campus buildings, and must take place outside at least 25 feet away from any building entrance.

Building Inspections
