Kathryn Pett Holmes, J.D., to begin position in May 2016
SALT LAKE CITY -
Westminster has selected Kathryn Pett Holmes, J.D., as the college's new general counsel. Her appointment will begin May 1.
Serving as Westminster's chief legal officer, Pett Holmes will provide legal counsel and services on a wide range of institutional matters. The general counsel functions as an integral partner within the president's senior team and advises the Board of Trustees and its committees with respect to governance and responsibilities.
"Kathryn brings a broad range of experience to the college as a lawyer, government affairs and legislative strategist, executive management leader and business advisor," said Stephen R. Morgan, Westminster president. "I look forward to working with her on a variety of issues and am excited to welcome her to our team."
Over the course of her 30-year career, Pett Holmes has served as general counsel to two organizations, including the Washington D.C. Metropolitan Area Transit Authority and the Utah Transit Authority; a lawyer in private practice for 15 years, including 10 years as a litigator; and has served as an expert adviser to federal regulatory agencies in Washington D.C.
Pett Holmes earned her J.D. from the University of New Mexico School of Law, and holds a M.A. in speech communication from the University of New Mexico and a B.S. in mass communication from the University of Utah.
"My prior service as a general counsel to two organizations and deep understanding of the federal regulatory process are particularly well suited to meet the needs of the college at this time," Pett Holmes said. "Together with the experienced team of senior leaders acting under the strong leadership of the president and an engaged and dedicated board, I look forward to being part of the team that prepares Westminster for the next 140 years."
Pett Holmes will report directly to the president.
