Westminster Olympians Help Raise Thousands for Student Scholarships

Sept. 12, 2014 Annual Scholarship Benefit Gala raised approximately $268,000 SALT LAKE CITY - Westminster College thanked its student-Olympians who helped raise approximately $268,000 for scholarships at the Annual Scholarship Benefit Gala, presented by Pepsi, on Sept. 6, 2014. The event raised funds to help students access a transformative educational experience at Westminster. The 2014 Sochi Olympians Maddie Bowman, Devin Logan, and Alex Deibold brightened the evening with their gold, silver, and bronze medals. 2014 Olympian Jackie Hernandez and 2010 Olympian Lacy Schooner also shared their Westminster experiences at the Gala. The Olympians encouraged attendees to continue supporting scholarships for the many students who couldn't afford Westminster's personalized education without financial assistance. Approximately 91% of Westminster undergraduate students receive scholarship aid.   Gala 2More than 400 people attended the Annual Scholarship Benefit Gala which included photo opportunities with the medalists, silent and live auctions, specialty cocktail bars, and a three-course dinner. Each table was hosted by a Westminster scholarship recipient. Westminster president Brian Levin-Stankevich presented Myriad Genetics with the "Funding a Future" award for its commitment to student scholarships. Pepsi and Wells Fargo generously sponsored the event at the highest levels.
