An audition is required to become a music major and/or to be considered for a talent-based music scholarship. You must audition on the instrument you plan to major in. Thanks to the generous support by the Florence J. Gillmor Foundation and the Gore Endowment for Music, students enrolled in the Music program at Westminster University receive a wide range of scholarships and unique performance opportunities.

If you have questions about auditions or the music scholarship, contact the Music program at 801.832.2379 or music@westminsteru.edu.

Audition Steps

1. Apply to Westminster

Before you can audition, you must submit an application for admission to Westminster. If you would like to audition to major in the Music program, select "Yes" on the application when asked if you are interested in auditioning for a performing arts scholarship. Auditions are required in order to pursue the music major and are also used for scholarship consideration. Music minors and others who participate in the program/music performances in some capacity can audition for scholarship consideration without wanting to become a music major.

If you have already submitted your application for admission and did not select "Yes" on the application when asked if you are interested in auditioning for a performing arts scholarship, contact your admissions counselor or email admission@westminsteru.edu for support.

2. Audition

Once you've submitted your Westminster application, complete the performing arts audition form that will appear in your application checklist. You will be able to schedule an in-person audition or submit a virtual audition portfolio through your application portal.
