Areas of Expertise: Secondary curriculum design and assessment, culturally responsive pedagogy, mentoring of novice teachers, service learning, trauma informed classrooms, school-to-prison pipeline, dropout prevention, social studies and English instruction. Biography: Dr. Heather Batchelor has taught at Westminster College since 2012. She has worked in the field of education for over 20 years as an elementary, middle and high school teacher, outdoor education instructor, department chair, program director of a dropout prevention program and new teacher mentor. She received the Massachusetts Service-Learning Teacher Leader award in 2012, was a finalist for Massachusetts Teacher or the year in 2011, and was Teacher of the Year in the Gill-Montague Regional School District in 2003, 2007, 2010 and 2011. She currently serves on the WestEd Board of Directors (2017-present) and is Westminster?s Faculty Chair Elect. Dr. Batchelor has an Ed.D. from the University of Massachusetts, a M.Ed. from the University of Massachusettes, a M.S. from the University of Massachusetts, and a B.A. from Mount Holyoke College.
