About

Mara is a licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor specializing in trauma-informed clinical practice. Mara received a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Westminster College in June of 2013. Prior to pursuing her graduate education, Mara completed a Bachelor of Science in both Economics and Communication from the University of Utah in 2007.

Since 2006 Mara has worked in the violence treatment and prevention community. She is the founder of the Utah Center for Post Traumatic Growth (UCPTG), where she currently practices mental health therapy and professional training/consulting. Prior to opening UCPTG Mara spent 8 years working at the Rape Recovery Center in Salt Lake City, where she was the Executive Director. Community engagement remains important to her, and she currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Utah Non-profit Association and the Implementation Collective for the Utah Association for Women in Psychology. Mara has been an adjunct faculty at Westminster College since 2015 and has taught Multicultural Counseling Theory, Trauma Treatment, Neuroscience of Trauma, and Human Growth and Development.
