 Westminster Aviation Scholarship

Ten awards of $2,500 per year will be awarded to freshman and transfer students who will attend Westminster College as members of the Fall 2014 entering class. The Westminster Aviation Scholarship is renewable for up to eight* semesters of enrollment provided the student remains in good academic standing, maintains satisfactory academic progress, and remains an Aviation Flight Operations or Aviation Management major.


1.  GET ADMITTED to Westminster College by completing our admissions application. 

2.  SUBMIT AN ESSAY of approximately 500 words detailing how you will enrich our community of learners and how a Westminster education will prepare you to contribute to the aviation community: participation in campus and civic activities, community service, and work experience are examples of areas that may be included in the essay.

3.  Applicants are encouraged to schedule a time to visit campus to meet with a representative of the Scholarship CommitteeInterviews via telephone and Skype may also be arranged.


The Scholarship Committee will select the ten recipients by evaluating the student’s academic record, the quality of the student’s involvement in the community, and the student’s potential to contribute to the aviation community as a graduate of Westminster’s aviation program. Applicants must apply and be admitted to Westminster. Don’t wait to apply though, applications are already being reviewed!

The $2,500 awards are in addition to merit scholarships offered by the college. Scholarship and grant funds awarded by Westminster are not to exceed full-tuition. Recipients of full-tuition scholarships will not be considered for this award.

NOTE: The essay for the Westminster Aviation Scholarship is in addition to any documents required for admission. When submitting the scholarship essay, please indicate that it is for the Westminster Aviation Scholarship and ensure your name is on each page.

*The Westminster Aviation Scholarship is granted for up to eight semesters of study or receipt of bachelor’s degree (whichever occurs first). Semesters exempted through transfer credit and enrolled semesters which were not satisfactory do count toward the eight semester maximum.

Recipients must register as full time (12 or more semester hours), degree-seeking students in each term that funds are received. Terms and Conditions for Receipt of Westminster College Merit-based Awards also apply. Students who do not enroll at Westminster in the Fall 2014 semester forfeit the award.

To be considered for the Westminster Aviation Scholarship applications must be postmarked on or by May 15, 2014. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. Recipients of the award will be notified on a rolling basis but no later than June 1, 2014.
