A Tale of Two Three Roommates

Stefan van Duyvendijk (’10, MAcc ’12) and Matt Polichette (’10) have an interesting story: four years after graduating from Westminster they’re roommates again and now there is another alumnus in the mix, Randy Ferguson (’10). Stefan came to Westminster from Boise, Idaho. The first day of orientation he met his roommate Matt from Wanship, Utah. They may have seemed like an unlikely pair: Matt was a chemistry major, and Stefan was interested in accounting. But something clicked. They lived together for about a year and a half, and then Stefan moved in with his older brother Johan Van Duyvendijk (’05, MBATM ’07).

Meanwhile, Matt and Randy met in the chemistry program and formed an instant friendship. The two started living together in 2010, and not long after that Stefan moved in. Randy says, “Matt and Stefan argue like an old married couple over things like who cleaned what or who ate whose cake in the fridge,” but he couldn’t imagine any of them living with other people. “We do everything together: grocery shop, hang out, and clean the house.” Randy says the secret to their success as roommates is the fact that they believe no one else could live with any of them, and they can settle arguments with Nerf gun fights.

Randy is currently a biomedical engineer at Biomericks and enrolled in Westminster’s MBATM program. Stefan graduated from Westminster’s Master of Accountancy program and is a senior associate at KPMG. Matt is a software engineer at Cremdo. All three stay involved with Westminster through the Young Alumni Committee and programs like Take a Griffin to Lunch.
